Medal of Honor: Linkin Park to headline in-game soundtrack

medal_of_honorElectronic Arts announced that the Grammy award-winning rock band Linkin Park will headline the in-game soundtrack for Medal of Honor with the lead song to their new album A Thousand Suns (releasing on September 14).

The song, entitled “The Catalyst,” will be featured in an exclusive trailer directed by the band’s Joe Hahn. The trailer is a unique first-of-its-kind mix of live footage and intense modern military action from the Medal of Honor game and will be released exclusively on August 1 at www.medalofhonor.com/linkinpark, one day before the song is released to radio, iTunes® and other media.

Medal of Honor launches on October 12, 2010 in North America and October 15 in Europe for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Major League Baseball 2K10 Soundtrack

Pearl Jam, Phoenix, The Sugarhill Gang and many more to get fans pumped for the virtual baseball season

As anticipation for the baseball season begins to build, 2K Sports is bringing the heat by unveiling the music soundtrack for Major League Baseball® 2K10, the next iteration of the popular Major League Baseball® 2K series. Featuring an eclectic array of sounds chosen to enhance the virtual baseball experience, the artists selected for this season range from rock legends Pearl Jam* and Social Distortion, to rap pioneers The Sugarhill Gang and Black Sheep, along with popular up-and-coming acts such as Cage the Elephant and Phoenix.

“I couldn’t have put together a better soundtrack that reflects the spirit of baseball fans if I created it myself,” said Evan Longoria, All-Star third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays® and cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K10. “Every game needs a killer soundtrack, and that’s what we definitely have in Major League Baseball 2K10.”

Beyond its mix of musical genres, the Major League Baseball 2K10 soundtrack also received some assistance in the selection process by Longoria himself, who helped to hand-pick the inclusion of the hard-rock band, Tantric. Longoria’s personal favorite Tantric song, “Down and Out”, will also serve as his walk up song throughout the actual MLB season. In a unique partnership between SPIN magazine and 2K Sports, bands also had the opportunity to participate in a special contest to be featured in Major League Baseball 2K10. The gritty indie funk band hailing from San Diego, Hotel St. George, was selected as this year’s contest winner. The Grammy award-winning French alternative rock band, Phoenix, and their new single “Lisztomania” will also make its way on the soundtrack to get fans pumped for the game.

Assassin’s Creed II Original Soundtrack

Assassin’s Creed II Original Soundtrack available November 16th

Award-winning composer Jesper Kyd has created an epic soundtrack for Assassin’s Creed II, the sequel to the fastest-selling new IP in video game history. Following his atmospheric score for the original Assassin’s Creed, Kyd takes the music in an adventurous new direction and crafts an immensely diverse, melodic and progressive musical pallete featuring acoustic and symphonic orchestrations with emotional depth and diversity.

The original score was recorded with A-List musicians and a Hollywood orchestra and choir at the world-renowned Capitol Studios. The Assassin’s Creed II Original Soundtrack will be available for digital download from popular music stores on November 16th.

Assassin’s Creed II features a new hero, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young Italian noble, and a new era, the Renaissance. The game tells an epic story of family, vengeance and conspiracy set in the pristine, yet brutal, backdrop of a Renaissance Italy. Ezio befriends Leonardo da Vinci, takes on Florence’s most powerful families and ventures throughout the canals of Venice where he learns to become a master assassin. The music propels the action, captures the allure and mystery of the story and immerses players in the breathtakingly detailed settings.

NBA 2K10 soundtrack info

2K Sports announced the complete track list for this fall’s highly anticipated basketball video game, NBA® 2K10. The soundtrack will feature a cross- genre lineup of music by top artists such as Kanye West, MGMT, K’naan, Metric, Ratatat and more. The soundtrack also includes an original song from Grammy-nominated artist, The Game, titled “Champion.”

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the hugely popular NBA 2K franchise, the #1 selling basketball video game* and #1 rated NBA simulation**, 2K Sports will enhance its long-standing reputation of bringing an eclectic mix of breaking and established artists to its gaming audience. Renowned for its expert fusing of music and gaming, 2K Sports will take this expertise to a whole new level with NBA 2K10 by utilizing several unique out-of-game opportunities to draw attention to the title’s featured artists. Past and present initiatives have included mix tapes, exclusive music downloads, music videos, in-game characters, live performances and music tours.
