ROCK BAND adds more Green Day

Athree pack of songs from Green Day will be added to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Wii™ on Dec. 15 and to PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system on Dec. 17.

Green DayGreen Day is one of the more than 390 bands currently available through the Rock Band platform. With more than 1,000 songs available, Rock Band is, without question, the industry leader in providing the best selection of interactive musical content, songs and artists.

Green Day will bring three more tracks from 21st Century Breakdown to the Rock Band Music Store as downloadable content. The three pack of songs will include, “Christian’s Inferno,” “Last of the American Girls,” and “¡Viva La Gloria!”. These tracks will be available for purchase as “Green Day Pack 02” as well as individual tracks on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system, and as individual tracks on Wii.

Green Day has won critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including Grammy„¥ Awards for Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot and Record of the Year for their smash hit “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” Earlier this year, Green Day released their eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, on Warner Music Group’s Reprise Records and released “21 Guns,” “East Jesus Nowhere” and “Know Your Enemy” on the Rock Band platform. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, as well as on the Rock, Active Rock and Alternative charts, fueled by the alternative radio No. 1 single “Know Your Enemy.” This past September, the band took home three 2009 MTV Video Music Awards for “21” Guns,” winning all three categories in which the clip was nominated: “Best Rock Video,” “Best Cinematography,” and “Best Direction.” Green Day performed Nov. 5 at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin. Rock Band 2 for Wii available in Europe this Ooctober

Harmonix and MTV Games announced that two three-packs of songs from bands appearing at the Penny Arcade Expo this weekend will be available for download in the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content next week for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™. The packs feature Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot, Paul & Storm and Freezepop.

Additional tracks from Avenged Sevenfold, The Jam, Oasis and Rage Against the Machine will be available in the Wii™ Rock Band Music Store, and tracks from Stone Roses and Godsmack will be available for download for Rock Band Unplugged on PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system.

Rock Band DLC Additions for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 System and Wii Console
The Penny Arcade Expo is an annual gamer festival in Washington state, created by the authors of the Penny Arcade webcomic. This year’s PAX takes place Sept. 4-6 in Seattle and will feature performances from Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot and Paul & Storm. Freezepop will also perform at PAX and offer up a three pack that includes “Get Ready 2 Rokk,” “Less Talk More Rokk” and “Science Genius Girl.” If you’re attending PAX, be sure to stop by the Harmonix/MTV Games booth (682) to check out The Beatles: Rock Band firsthand.

Also this week, tracks from American rockers 3 Doors Down, AFI and Audioslave and 70s R&B outfit Jackson 5 will also be available for download next week in the Rock Band Music Store. These songs were previously available for Rock Band Unplugged and will now be available for Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION3 and Wii Rock Band fans.

Wii Additions
Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Talking Heads add an additional five downloadable tracks to Wii Rock Band, joining the already available “Psycho Killer.” The five songs available for download next week span a good deal of Talking Heads’ career, including “Take Me to the River” from the band’s second album, More Songs About Buildings and Food; “Crosseyed & Painless” and “Once in a Lifetime” from the band’s fourth studio album, Remain in Light; “Girlfriend is Better” from the band’s fifth album, Speaking in Tongues; and “And She Was” from the band’s sixth album, Little Creatures. Additionally, singles from Avenged Sevenfold, The Jam, Oasis and Rage Against the Machine will be available in the Wii Rock Band Music Store next week. This brings the number of songs available for download in the Wii Rock Band Music Store to 667.

Harmonix and MTV Games announced that summer tour mates Weezer and Blink-182, as well as also-touring KISS, will have three packs of songs added to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content next week, along with a single from Damone, for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

Additionally, tracks from Kings of Leon, Rancid, Rise Against, Mötley Crüe and more will be available in the Wii™ Rock Band Music Store, and tracks from James Gang and Alien Ant Farm will be available for Rock Band Unplugged.

New Rock Band DLC Additions for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 Systems
Weezer and Blink-182 kick off a tour today that runs through October. Next week, three packs from the two bands will join already released fan favorites like “El Scorcho,” “Say It Ain’t So” and “Buddy Holly” from Weezer; and “All the Small Things” and “Dammit” from Blink-182. Available next week in the Rock Band Music Store will be “Down” and “Feeling This,” from Blink-182’s 2003 self-titled album; and “The Rock Show,” from the band’s 2001 release, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket; as well as “My Name Is Jonas” and “Undone – The Sweater Song,” from Weezer’s debut 1994 album, and “Pork and Beans,” from the band’s 2008 album. Three live songs – “100,000 Years,” “Deuce” and “Parasite” – from KISS, who are on their Alive/35 tour to commemorate the band’s 35th anniversary, will also be released in the Rock Band Music Store next week, as will “Out Here All Night” from Damone.

Rock Band 2 – Alice Cooper to contribute a six-pack

THE FATHER OF SHOCK ROCK ALICE COOPER MAKES HIS ROCK BAND DEBUT; TAKING BACK SUNDAY ADDS THREE PACK TO THE ROCK BAND MUSIC STORE

Harmonix and MTV Games announced that iconic metal genius Alice Cooper will make his Rock Band® debut next week adding a six pack of songs to the Rock Band® Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. Next week’s lineup also features a three pack of songs from hard rockers Taking Back Sunday.

Alice Cooper’s impressive résumé spans over 40 years of rock ‘n roll history with multiple platinum albums and chart topping hits as well as unforgettable theatrical stage performances. Blending heavy metal, vaudeville, horror movies and garage rock, Cooper is credited with inventing and popularizing “shock rock.” The father of shock rock brings six of his biggest hits to the Rock Band Music Store in the “Alice Cooper Pack 01”. Four tracks are from Cooper’s live album, Classicks from 1995: “Under My Wheels (live),” “I’m Eighteen (live),” “Billion Dollar Babies (live)” and “School’s Out (live).” The other two tracks are “Poison,” the lead single from 1989’s Trash and one of Cooper’s biggest hits, “Vengeance is Mine,” from his latest offering, Along Came a Spider (2008).

Long Island based hard rock outfit Taking Back Sunday will also make its Rock Band debut next week offering up three of the band’s most popular hits. Deemed a consistent power player in the alternative/emo rock scene, the “Taking Back Sunday Pack 01” includes “What’s It Feel Like to Be a Ghost?,” “Liar” and “MakeDamnSure” from the group’s major label debut, Louder Now (2006). Taking Back Sunday makes its Rock Band debut ahead of the highly anticipated release of its newest album, New Again, due out June 2, 2009.
