EA Sports MADDEN NFL 11 winning in August

Madden-NFL-11Madden NFL 11 is delivering a strong performance in August in both retail sales and direct-to-consumer digital revenue. Based on internal estimates, Madden NFL 11 is the #1 selling game in North America in August – sales are projected to be up approximately 5% year-over-year across all platforms for the month.

Madden NFL 11 is the number one selling game in August, and the game has created enormous enthusiasm in the online community,” said Peter Moore, president of EA SPORTS. “Each day on consoles, fans are playing as many games online as the equivalent of 750 full NFL seasons. Now on Facebook, Madden NFL Superstars will bring a whole new dimension and audience to the Madden NFL experience.”

This month, Madden NFL 11 has reached a number of important milestones:

  • On the strength of the Madden NFL Ultimate Team game mode being released this year at launch, digital revenues for Madden NFL 11 are up more than 200 percent year-over-year.
  • Madden NFL 11 gamers have averaged more than two million online connected game sessions each day. Nearly 20 percent of all online play has been logged on a brand new feature, Online Team Play. The mode allows fans to go online and play 3-on-3 with, or against, their friends.
  • The innovative new GameFlow play calling system in Madden NFL 11 has been a hit, with 85 percent of players having used the new feature that streamlines play calling and shortens overall game length for a more accessible experience. Says ESPN.com: “GameFlow is a complete game-changer.”
  • Madden NFL 11 debuted as the #1 top grossing application for Apple’s mobile platforms on the day it launched – the first time one game franchise has held the top grossing position in multiple platforms in the App Store.

FIFA 11: EA becomes exclusive game publisher of the English Premier League

FIFA-11Electronic Arts and the Premier League announced that EA SPORTS has become the Official Sports Technology Partner of the Premier League.

Under the partnership, EA SPORTS will expand its current relationship with fans of the English Barclays Premier League with exclusive enhanced experiences and even greater authenticity inside of EA SPORTS FIFA products.

EA SPORTS branding will be featured on all live on-screen broadcasts of English Barclays Premier League matches, and EA SPORTS will work with broadcasters to develop enhancements for match day broadcast analysis and increased fan interaction. EA SPORTS will also sponsor the Player Performance Index and will explore new ways to utilize more in depth Barclays Premier League statistics than ever before in future iterations of EA SPORTS FIFA products.

In the exclusive role as Official Sports Technology Partner of the Premier League, EA SPORTS will explore new ways to leverage actual match and performance data to deliver improved interactive soccer experiences that match the complexity, finesse and excitement of a real world soccer match. Examples include:

  • The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index: EA SPORTS will sponsor the Premier League Player Performance Index that will soon expand to include new performance data that will now account for time and distance measurements. This will allow for detailed statistics such as the speed at which a shot is hit, the force of a ball as a keeper makes a key save, the height of a jump, the speed at which a penalty is struck and more. EA SPORTS will have direct access to the Player Performance Index to further extend the authenticity and depth of its soccer franchises including EA SPORTS FIFA in future versions.
  • EA SPORTS Team of the Week: Available at www.premierleague.com, the Premier League and EA SPORTS will publish the EA SPORTS Team of the Week. The team will be based on ratings from the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index after each round of the Barclays Premier League and will be integrated into EA SPORTS FIFA products.
  • Barclays Premier League Broadcast Branding: EA SPORTS branding will appear on-screen, linked with live match statistics, during all Barclays Premier League broadcasts in the UK and overseas.
  • Barclays Premier League Match Broadcast Enhancements: Using EA SPORTS graphics, animations and interactive technology combined with real-time, real world data feeds, EA will work with broadcasters toward enhancements for match day broadcast analysis that will bring soccer fans closer and deeper into the action direct from their couch.

Stanley Cup Champion Jonathan Toews the new face of EA Sports NHL 11

Electronic Arts revealed that 22-year-old Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks will be the new face of the NHL® 11 videogame from EA SPORTS. With last year’s title featuring Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane, NHL 11 marks the first time that EA SPORTS has put back to back players from the same team on the cover of the NHL franchise. Jonathan Toews’ image will be on the front of all packaging when NHL 11 is available in North American retail stores this September.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary with NHL 11, the EA SPORTS NHL® franchise has won 22 Sports Game of the Year awards over the past three years and is poised to raise the bar yet again. With a revolutionary real-time physics engine that brings an unprecedented amount of realism to the franchise, gameplay innovations like broken sticks and a revamped face-off system, as well as the addition of the Canadian Hockey League, NHL 11 is set to be the most complete hockey videogame ever created

After being selected third overall in the 2006-07 entry draft by the Chicago Blackhawks, Toews has emerged as one of the most skilled centers in the NHL after just two seasons. After helping lead team Canada to a gold medal win during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Toews locked up the Conn Smythe, given to the most valuable player in the NHL playoffs, after playing a crucial role in leading the Chicago Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup championship since 1961.Toews is currently the youngest captain in the NHL, and has registered more than 65 points in each of his first two seasons.

NHL 11 will be available for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system with an MSRP of $59.99. It is developed by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI.

Tim Tebow is the exclusive NCAA FOOTBALL 11 cover athlete

Heisman Trophy Winner to Be Uniquely Featured on Each Platform Cover

Electronic Arts announced that former University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow will be featured on the cover of EA SPORTS NCAA Football 11, available in stores July 13th. Tebow is celebrated as one of the greatest college football players in history and is revered as an ambassador of college football.

Tebow was the first sophomore in history to win the coveted Heisman Trophy following his 2007 season as the Florida Gators’ starting quarterback. In that season, Tebow became the first player in NCAA history to rush and pass for at least 20 touchdowns in a single season. Tebow is one of the most decorated college quarterbacks in history, winning the Davey O’Brien Award as the nation’s best quarterback in 2007 and becoming only the second player in NCAA history to earn the Maxwell Award, given to the nation’s top football player, on two occasions.
