F1 2010 heralds a new generation of high definition FORMULA ONE games from Codemasters

A new generation of FORMULA ONE games will come to high definition consoles and PC later this year as Codemasters® today announced that F1 2010 will be released this September for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC Games For Windows®.

As the official game of the 2010 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, F1 2010 will include all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the coming season. F1 2010 will feature the return of seven times FORMULA 1 Drivers’ World Champion Michael Schumacher, the introduction of several new teams, and the brand new Korean International Circuit that will host the 2010 FORMULA 1 KOREAN GRAND PRIX.

The September launch will see F1 2010 become the first official FORMULA ONE game to appear for Xbox 360 and marks the return of FORMULA ONE to PC after an eight year absence. The arrival of the HD editions of FORMULA ONE follows Codemasters’ extremely successful launch of F1 2009 for Wii and PSP, which became a top five best seller throughout the past holiday period.

In F1 2010 gamers will take on the full, expanded grid in a variety of game modes including GRAND PRIX, Championship, Time Trial and an extensive, innovative Career mode. F1 2010 will also feature a highly advanced damage model, fully dynamic weather system and extensive competitive multiplayer options.

In production at Codemasters Studios Birmingham, F1 2010 is being developed using the EGO Game Technology Platform, Codemasters’ proprietary tech that powered the critically acclaimed, million-plus selling Colin McRae: DiRT 2 and Race Driver: GRID. The award-winning technology has been further developed to accurately recreate the unique aerodynamics and handling of 200MPH+ FORMULA ONE cars. The tech combined with Codemasters’ unprecedented access to FORMULA ONE teams and drivers will ensure that F1 2010 delivers the most authentic FORMULA ONE racing experience yet. F1 2010 will be released September 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows.

A new generation of FORMULA ONE video games featuring Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and all the official drivers, teams and circuits from the 2009 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ was announced by Codemasters®, the developer and publisher of award-winning racing video games, under its exclusive worldwide agreement with Formula One Administration Limited.

The first title in the series, F1 2009™, will debut on Wii™ and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system this autumn. F1 2009 will deliver an authentic and accessible recreation of the current FORMULA ONE season, including, for the first time in a FORMULA ONE title, the stunning Singapore night race. A trailer video is now live at www.formula1-game.com, Codemasters’ new online destination for the game.

Extending the FORMULA ONE experience to further gaming formats, it was also announced that F1 2010™ is in development at Codemasters Studios and coming mid 2010 for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® and Games For Windows®. F1 2010 is being created using Codemasters’ EGO™ Engine technology, which most recently powered the BAFTA award-winning Race Driver: GRID™.

Talking about the partnership with Codemasters, Bernie Ecclestone, CEO Formula One Management Limited, commented: “Codemasters has a great heritage when it comes to racing games and their reputation is second to none. We’re working very closely together on the upcoming FORMULA ONE titles and are very impressed with what we have seen.”

Rod Cousens, CEO, Codemasters, said: “FORMULA ONE is the pinnacle of motorsport. For many, it embraces a lifestyle and its audience is far reaching and growing. We are producing a series of games that will deliver the passion, glamour and exhilaration that fans deserve and we know how to do that. F1 2009 is the start of something very special for Codemasters and will set the standard for the high definition versions that will follow in mid 2010.”

“Our studios are working extremely closely with Formula One Management Limited and the teams to produce the most authentic and thrilling experience possible. We are delighted with the level of support and access afforded to us so far, enabling us to get as close to the sport as possible. It is this level of support, understanding and working in partnership that enables to deliver superb FORMULA ONE games for whichever platform players choose to race.”

In addition to bringing FORMULA ONE to Wii for the first time, F1 2009 marks Lewis Hamilton’s debut in a videogame and will enable players to take to the wheel of his MCLAREN MP4-24 FORMULA ONE car and battle to retain his FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP crown. The new 2009 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP promises to be one of the most exciting and closely fought, thanks to new regulations on aerodynamics, slick tyres and the introduction of the KERS boost system, which is designed to aid overtaking. The rule changes, including KERS, will be reflected in F1 2009 to deliver a truly enthralling racing experience.

Both the Wii and PSP editions of F1 2009 have been exclusively designed to deliver the ultimate racing package for each individual format and its audience. Setting new standards for immersion and authenticity on Wii, F1 2009 will offer a variety of race modes, including a full FORMULA ONE season and individual arcade-style challenges. Customisable driver aids will be offered to individual players, so both novice and expert drivers will be able to keep their car on track. In the game’s multiplayer mode, driver aids will enable friends and families of different abilities to play together in wheel-to-wheel split screen co-operative and competitive multiplayer races.

The PSP edition of F1 2009 will have players racing against each other wirelessly in addition to engaging and challenging single player modes exclusively tuned for portable play, including competing in full championships.

As FORMULA ONE enters its most exciting season yet, F1 2009 will take Wii and PSP players as close as possible to racing in the world’s most spectacular motorsport when it launches this autumn; F1 2010 will follow for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360 and Games For Windows in 2010. Wake Up And Smell The Dirt As Codemasters Releases Colin Mcrae: Dirt 2 Teaser Video

Prepare for mud, sweat and gears – it’s race morning in the Colin McRae: DiRT 2 teaser video, now available at www.dirt2game.com

Get a taste of DiRT’s new flavour as Codemasters® unveiled the World Tour teaser video for Colin McRae: DiRT™2, the sequel to the award-winning off-road racer; the video is now live at www.dirt2game.com (video only available and for use outside of the US).

Colin McRae: DiRT 2 is set to deliver a thrilling new off-road racing experience with an extreme sports attitude that borrows from snowboarding and skateboarding culture. The heart of the game is the World Tour – a roster of contemporary off-road events held at stunning new locations, from canyon racing and jungle trails to city stadium-based races, complete with big event atmosphere.

Immersing the player in the World Tour, players will travel the globe in their own massive Recreational Vehicle (RV); the interior of which will form both the game’s front end and the gateway to new locations. At each location the RV will park up ahead of the race event, with the awaiting scene visible through the windows. The video opens as our bleary-eyed driver wakes to this scene one World Tour morning.

“Through the Colin McRae: DiRT 2 World Tour we’re creating a new career journey for players; one that will capture the spirit of contemporary off-road racing. It’s all about travelling the world in your RV, hitting off-road festivals, competing at major spectator events and building your rep as a driver,” said Gavin Raeburn, senior executive producer at Codemasters Studios. “As players progress through the World Tour, friendships will be formed with hero drivers from the off-roading world and these relationships will, in turn, help players accelerate their way up the rankings ladder. The more players impress and bond with the big names, the more invitations they’ll get to the cooler events and even receive offers to team up with the pros for major competitions.”

In addition to the World Tour, Colin McRae: DiRT 2 will come complete with full online functionality, with head-to-head competitive online play and new social features to engage the racing community. Prepare for mud, gravel, dust and dirt too in Colin McRae: DiRT 2, coming this September for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Games For Windows® LIVE, Wii™, Nintendo DS™ and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system. Codemasters releases the Turning Point: Fall of Liberty playable demo

Fight afresh on a startlingly different battlefield as World War II comes to Manhattan.

Experience the explosive opening scenario from Turning Point®: Fall of Liberty™, the forthcoming alternate reality shooter from Spark Unlimited™, as Codemasters® announces the launch of the game’s playable demo, now available to download exclusively from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty opens as the sun rises over New York on a September morning in an altered vision 1953. Without warning, the undefeated Third Reich launch an explosive attack on the gateway to the United States and, sending a very clear message to the city, razes the Statue of Liberty in a devastating bombing run.

As this hell breaks out, the demo sees players assume the role of Dan Carson, a New York City construction engineer, at work on the girders of a skyscraper. The invasion intensifies and, as the skies fill with Zeppelins, jet aircraft and assault blimps, the skyscraper takes several direct hits. With the building collapsing around him, Carson must run for his life, dashing along girders, finding ladders or, as players head towards the lower levels, leaping from girder to girder to safety.

Players come face to face with the enemy as paratroopers descend on the building. Players can make use of Carson’s strength to grapple with opponents Krav Maga-style, disarming and dispatching them off the side of the building in dramatic environmental kills.

Survive the attack on New York in the Xbox 360 demo and then, as the fearsome German war machine occupies America and Europe, prepare for a World War II like no other in the full game, coming soon for the Xbox 360, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows®. For the latest Turning Point: Fall of Liberty information, videos and community news, be sure to visit the official game website located at www.turningpointgame.com / www.codemasters.co.uk/turningpoint

US ONLY: Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is rated “T” (Teen – Language, Violence – Content that may be suitable for persons ages 13 and older) by the ESRB.

ABOUT TURNING POINT®: FALL OF LIBERTY™
Set in 1953, in the midst of an alternate reality where Nazi forces win World War II, Turning Point®: Fall of Liberty™ opens as the Third Reich launches a decimating attack on New York. Nazi battleships quickly take the harbour, monstrous Zeppelins fill the skies, jet aircraft execute bombing runs and, as armed paratroopers descend on to the streets, the city is taken block by block. With New York falling to pieces, and Washington D.C. in enemy sights, it’s time to fight afresh in a new battleground.

Developed by U.S. studio Spark Unlimited, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty will deliver an explosive F.P.S. experience in a world where famous locations and landmarks appear startlingly different under Nazi occupation. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty also presents a very personal battle for players. As Dan Carson – a reluctant New York City construction worker turned freedom fighter – gamers must survive the initial invasion before regrouping with other resistance members to take the fight back to the Nazis. Always outmanned and outgunned, players must use guerrilla tactics as they attempt to stop the world’s most notorious war machine.
